Class 5 · Math · No. 01
Large numbers and place value
Tokens, journeys and the nearest thousand
Long ago people travelled on foot, by boat and in bullock carts. Today trains and aeroplanes cover thousands of kilometres. In this chapter you will build numbers up to 99,999 with place-value tokens, put big numbers in order, and find the nearest ten, hundred and thousand.
Think about it
A student says 9,990 is greater than 49,014 because 9 is greater than 4. Is the student right?
